5 Tips To Learn French Online

Tip 1: Use flashcards every day. Flashcards are a great tool for learning French as you can still use the good old hand-made card flashcards but I highly recommend buying flashcard software. Flashcards enable you to associate the new words you are learning with the relevant pictures and cementing the learning in your brain.
Tip 2: Master the basics first, then don’t get caught up in being perfect, just make sure you practice and speak as often as you can. It’s like learning your native tongue as a child, you didn’t know it all at first but as you kept using your new language then you became better and better at it.
Tip 3:Read aloud every day. This works multiple language centers in your brain at once as it exercises your ‘language muscle’ much more effectively than when just reading to yourself. This will help with your speaking skills as well and give you plenty of practice at getting the pronunciation right.
Tip 4: Speak french with as many people as possible: Just like in your native country, no two people speak a language the same way, they have different vocabulary, cadence, intonation and level of formality. If you can’t speak with other french speakers then even watching french movies, documentaries and new commentaries will be helpful.
Tip 5: Write a little every day and keep a journal in French. As you write in French on a daily basis, even just a few sentences, will contribute tremendously to both your reading and speaking ability.
